ALBERTA’s NEW FUNDING GUIDELINES IMPLEMENTED
December 16, 2011 – Today, Alberta’s Minister of Culture and Community Services implemented changes to the Alberta Multimedia Development Fund for screen-based production funding. The most significant change is moving from the previous three‑stream funding system within the Alberta Production Program to a new two-stream funding system with an increased grant percentage. - eligible for up to 29 per cent of qualifying Alberta costs, subject to a per Production maximum grant of $ 5 M.
- for shoots that last more than 30 consecutive days, or 300 person hours for digital projects, one per cent of additional funding will be granted to a maximum of 30 per cent of qualifying Alberta costs.
- Stream II – Foreign/Service Stream:
- Albertan ownership in the production is 30 % or less, with no ownership being acceptable.
- Alberta production corporation can be owned by a non resident of Canada.
- must have a minimum of four Albertans employed in key creative positions (or one-third of key creative positions in the budget). Two Alberta-trainee key creative positions may be substituted for one key creative position. See eligible Key Creative Position definition in the guidelines.
